Can You See Who Watched Your Instagram Story

‍Instagram stories are great for sharing photos with your followers that you don’t want to stay on your profile forever. They disappear after 24 hours, giving you more privacy while still allowing you to show your pics to the world. However, as with any social media platform, there’s always some mystery involved. Whether or not someone can see when you post a story on Instagram is a question that comes up often. While these tips aren’t insider tricks, they’ll help you understand how Instagram stories work so you can use them to your advantage. Let’s take a look at how to see who watched your Instagram story and other details about this feature of the app.

Can You See Who Watched Your Instagram Story?

By browsing through the Instagram stories of your friends, you may notice that your friend’s story has a lot of likes and comments. You think to yourself: “My friend likes my stories a lot, does my story get a lot of views?” The next time you go to check out your own Instagram story, you suddenly notice that there are over 100 people who have liked or commented on your story.

Who Can See When You Post An Instagram Story?

  1. You and your followers can see when you post an Instagram story.
  2. You can see who has liked or commented on your story, but not necessarily who is viewing the video.
  3. People in your friend list can see when you post an Instagram story, but they cannot comment on it.
  4. People who have been added to your story by the Instagram app can watch your videos as well as like them, but they cannot comment on them and view the comments of others who have watched your stories.
  5. Only people who are following you will be able to watch, like, and comment on stories that you post on Instagram.
  6. The only people who would be able to view the video and comments of those watching the story would be those in their own lists or those added by the Instagram app itself (which is why I stated above that even if someone adds a person to their list, they cannot comment).
  7. If you are posting a video from a different app, such as Snapchat, then the person who is watching your story won’t be able to see the video or any comments that they have added.
  8. If you have a video on Instagram Story that you have posted from a different app, like Snapchat, and then you post a comment on it in your Instagram Story, then anyone who watches your story would only be able to see the comment that you made on it and not see the video.
  9. You can also opt to not include friends in your Instagram Story at all if you do not want them to know when you post an Instagram Story or if you want them to only know when they are viewing it.
  10. If people follow your account after watching one of your stories (and liking or commenting on it), they will no longer be able to view those videos from their own list of videos or from their friends’ lists of videos but they will still be able to view those videos as long as they are following you.
  11. Instagram Story is not permanent, you can remove them at any time and they will be removed from all of your other stories.
  12. If someone follows you after watching your story, they will be able to view the video and comments too but only as long as they are following you.
